Bosque de Lomas, also known as Lomas de Lachay, is a dry forest located in the central coast of Peru, approximately 105 kilometers (65 miles) north of Lima. It is one of the few remaining examples of endemic coastal desert vegetation and is considered to be a biodiversity hotspot.
The forest is unique due to its ability to absorb moisture from the nearby ocean fog, which allows it to thrive in the otherwise dry region. It is characterized by low-growing shrubs, cacti, and succulent plants, as well as various species of birds, reptiles, and mammals.
Bosque de Lomas is a popular tourist destination, with several hiking trails and viewing platforms that provide stunning views of the forest and surrounding landscape. The area is also home to a research center, which studies the region's unique flora and fauna and works to promote conservation efforts.
